Preparation of digital studies for Prognos customers
Prognos is one of the oldest economic research companies in Europe. Founded at the University of Basel, Prognos experts have been researching for a wide range of clients from the public and private sectors since 1959 — politically independent and scientifically based.
As a research and consulting institution, Prognos publishes more than 200 studies and analyses annually with a team of over 200 employees at 10 international locations. To provide an insight into their own work, Prognos regularly publishes the magazine “Trendletter”. With the specialist articles, approaches and current statistics published in it, Prognos reaches decision makers from politics, business and society twice a year.
The magazine is printed and sent by post with a circulation of over 9,000 issues. The magazine is available for download as a PDF on the website and presented in a PDF flipbook until 2020. Because more and more readers primarily read online — on PCs at work, on their smartphones on the go or on their tablets — the editorial team is increasingly focusing on modern digital options.
The central challenge was to transfer the trendletter, which had been published as a print publication for many years, from a PDF to an interactive online magazine. Maintaining the form of a magazine with closed issues was decisive when choosing the provider.
The first edition was carried out jointly by the Prognos editorial team and the Webmag team as part of a training session. A separate online feature has been developed for special features of the magazine, such as the characteristic middle of the issue, which can also be used in subsequent issues.
In addition to being sent via newsletter, individual issues articles are posted on the company's social media channels and lead to further interaction with target groups.
In addition to the successful implementation of the trend letter, the implementation of digital customer studies is being tackled. Studies that Prognos creates for customers are not delivered in PDF form, but as browser-based, responsive publications, which are published either on the Prognos subdomain or on a subdomain of the respective customer. These individual expenses are added as required by the Prognos team and implemented on their own. In this way, Prognos is not only moving ahead with its own digitization, but is also strengthening digital communication among customers and partners.
Julia Thurau from Prognos: “With Webmag, we have given our magazine trendletter a contemporary digital appearance. Our readers can now read our contributions much more conveniently on their smartphones or tablets than before. Thanks to Webmag's intuitive publishing platform, we create all editions in-house. If you have any questions, the Webmag team provides quick and competent support. The webmag tool is also very suitable for studies and other publications that we publish for ourselves and our customers. So we didn't just modernize the Trendletter. With Webmag, we can also offer our clients a modern format for publishing their study results. ”
